February 2022
CHARGES:
(1) SIMPLE ASSAULT AND BATTERY
(2) RESISTING ARREST
(3) DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Attorney Kensley Barrett with Marin & Barrett, Inc., is extremely pleased to report that a Client charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct in Newport County, had all three charges dismissed. The Client was arrested by the Newport Police Department while celebrating his 21st birthday at a local bar/restaurant on Thames Street. The Client had a few too many drinks and due to his intoxicated state, he uncharacteristically became belligerent and was asked to leave the establishment. Unfortunately, this led to some pushing and shoving and the Client was subsequently arrested. Marin & Barrett, Inc., met with the Client at the arraignment and successfully argued that the incident was a misunderstanding and that the Client was celebrating his birthday. Marin & Barrett, Inc., and the prosecutor reached an agreement by which the Client completed community service for a dismissal of the charges.
