CHARGE:  FIRST DEGREE SEXUAL ASSAULT (MAXIMUM PENALTY OF LIFE IMPRISONMENT AT THE ACI)

BAIL HEARING OVERVIEW:  Marin & Barrett, Inc. is extremely pleased to report that a Client charged with first degree sexual assault has been released on bail following a bail hearing in District Court.  The Client was held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institute Intake Center (ACI) following his initial appearance in District Court three weeks ago. 

At the Client's bail hearing, multiple witnesses testified in support of the Attorney General's request that the Client continued to be held without bail.  Nonetheless, due to the defense presented and skilled cross examination of the complaining witness, Marin & Barrett, Inc. was able to successfully secure the release of the Client onto home confinement during the pendency of the case.  Additionally, testimony elicited during the bail hearing significantly contradicted the State's case and substantially weakened further prosecution of the case.

CASE RESULT: BAIL SET AND THE CLIENT WAS RELEASED ON HOME CONFINEMENT BAIL PENDING TRIAL in April 2021
