According to the Wrentham Police Department, the client and his girlfriend were “shopping” at several stores and left with merchandise that had not been paid for. Police responded to the scene, questioned the client, and ultimately recovered the items from the client's vehicle. The client was issued a notice to appear for a clerk magistrate's hearing.

The Defense

At the clerk magistrate's hearing, the magistrate found probable cause that a crime had been committed, and the case was scheduled for arraignment in Wrentham District Court.

At arraignment, Attorney Barrett successfully negotiated an agreement that resulted in the dismissal of the charge upon the client completing twenty (20) hours of community service.

This resolution allowed the client to avoid a criminal conviction, protecting their record and preventing the lasting impact that a theft-related offense can carry.
