CHARGE: POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
CASE OVERVIEW: Marin & Barrett, Inc. is extremely pleased to report that the serious life altering charges of Possession of Child Pornography against a Client in Superior Court has been resolved with an amendment to the Access to a Computer for Fraudulent Purposes. Our Client had been charged with Possession of Child Pornography following a long investigation and subsequent search warrant/arrest of the Client. Based on the nature of the charge, if convicted, he faced a potential jail sentence and mandatory registration as a sex offender.
We were able to get our client into counseling immediately and after careful review of the evidence. Once brought in to fight the case in Superior Court, our arguments we were persuasive and resulted in the successful negotiation of an amendment to the charge to Access to a Computer for Fraudulent Purposes.
CASE RESULT: FELONY POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES REDUCED TO ACCESSING A COMPUTER FOR FRAUDULENT PURPOSES and the Client was placed on probation with no sex offender registration obligation in November 2021.
